HR Compliance Checklist For Every Growing Business
As labour laws and statutory requirements continue to evolve, businesses of every size need a clear, repeatable process for staying compliant. A single missed filing or an outdated policy can expose a company to penalties, audits or employee disputes that are far costlier than prevention.
Start with the basics: Registrations under the Shops and Establishments Act, Provident Fund, ESI, Professional Tax, and Labour Welfare Fund should all be verified annually. From there, review your employee handbook to make sure POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) policies, leave policies and grievance redressal mechanisms are current and clearly communicated.
Payroll compliance deserves its own line item. Salary structures, statutory deductions and timely remittances should be audited on a monthly cycle rather than left until year-end, when errors are harder to unwind.
Finally, document everything. Appointment letters, appraisal records, exit formalities and full-and-final settlements should follow a consistent, auditable process. A well-documented HR function is a business's best defence in the event of a dispute or inspection.
Partnering with an HR compliance specialist can take this entire burden off your plate, letting you focus on running the business while experts keep your HR practices audit-ready year-round.
